Cystitis

Cystitis is an inflammation/infection of the bladder, which causes pain or a stinging sensation when passing water (urine) and a persistent and urgent desire to pass urine. Left untreated Cystitis can cause kidney infections.
Cystitis affects both men and women. However, Cystitis is more common in women especially if pregnant, sexually active, or post-menopausal.
While Cystitis is less common in men, it is potentially more serious. Causes can be urinary tract obstructions such as an enlarged prostrate or tumour, or an undetected bladder or prostate infection.
If treatment is obtained quickly, Cystitis in males is not usually serious.
